Magic is semi rare and guns are mainstream but not effective enough to make melee weapons obsolete. I added in a few additions such as bolt action rifles, machine gun emplacements, artillery, tank/mech cannons, biplanes and the like. Overall it works fine. I don't see why people would have a problem with guns in DnD.
